Religion and tradition are very important in the United Arab Emirates, so be sure to respect the religious culture and dress of your hosts in accordance with the laws. Business attire should be very modest and formal suits in Dubai, for both men and women.
Aside from the dress code laws, you may want to note that the region is very hot for most of the year (nights often offer some relief), so you should consider using lighter colors and fabrics. and bring a spare shirt or two with you, you will most likely need to change.
Across the Emirates, work clothes are always formal, but some places have "casual Thursdays" with a more relaxed dress code. However, casual days are nothing like the West. Most Emirati businessmen still wear very smart business casual suits or clothes. Women are always expected to look modest with covered shoulders, upper arms, and knees, especially during Ramadan.
Although there are more than 200 nationalities living in Dubai, this city still has a firm yet quiet dress code that leans towards the conservative side. For men, business suits are a must for offices and business meetings. Shorts are only appropriate for swimming and other sports, so keep your legs covered. Collared shirts and ties are expected in many places, so keep that in mind when packing.
Informal business meetings are usually held in informal places like restaurants, but you still need to respect dress codes and look respectful (this says a lot about your work ethic and your relationships with customers). _________________ (link hidden for guest post) |
