I am looking for a good, legal, non-limited MIDI editor/composer. Can also be in other formats. Can anyone help me? |

You didn't mention free, but if you want a fairly cheap one, I suggest you buy Mozart. Its pretty cheap compared to other software. (Around $180)
If you want a better program, I suggest Sibelius or Finale. If you just buy Sibelius (without the PhotoScore) its cheaper than Finale. _________________ (link hidden for guest post) |

Thanks, but I'm looking for something free. Something like GarageBand, except for Windows, would do. What are people using? |

There's not a bunch of free MIDI editors.
There's GUITAR PRO wich is cheap too, but you can have a free trial...
I have the full version and for now, I'm completly satisfied. _________________ About knowledge: But how much is too much ? It's up to you to set your own knowledge limit. You can't know everything. I'm not sure if you have heard any of my midi files, but I recomend Music Notation Composer. I've used it for years and believe it to be the best. It is a bit expensive, around $160. I always believe you should say a little more to have the best. I'll give a link if you're interested. _________________ Check out my midi... |

I love using Anvil Studio and it's free.

There are more advanced features you could buy, but the free version itself is still very good. |

Thanks, but I've switched to Mac. I still welcome suggestions though. GarageBand add-ins, perhaps? |

Finale NotePad is free and unlimited. (thats the program they used at camp and its pretty decent). I suggest trying it if you want something free.
