I regret to say that I have not been in as many musicals as alot of people in here. At least, I think that's the case. I played a nerd in Grease, a gentleman in Oliver, Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie, Lippman in Of Thee I Sing, I got to sing a portion of "Master of the House" as Thenardier in a revue(However you spell that) of Les Miserables, and I'm currently playing the Barrister of Munchkinland in The Wizard of Oz as well as a jitterbug dancer, citizen of Oz, and a Winkie( The Wicked Witche's slaves that sing-Yoo-Hee-Hoo! Yo-Ho!) I am hoping to play either Billy Flynn or Amos in my school's production of Chicago next spring. It's a long shot, but it's worth trying. icon_smile.gif

I'm so incredibly jealous of you guys who have done Les Miserables. I tried to convince my drama teacher to do it, but she won't. Alright, here comes my list. No leads for me, because I've been too chicken to audition, lol, but that is all changing now!!

Hello Dolly - Towns Person
Ragtime - Immigrant and Rich person
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - Slave, and chorus member (i LOVE doing the Pharaoh scene! so fun!!)
Seussical - Who, Jungle Animal, Circus Animal
Beauty and the Beast (currently in progress) - Towns Person and Enchanted Object, not sure which one yet
Upcoming: Children of Eden - Wish me luck at auditions!!

I'm sorry your drama teacher has refused to put on Les Miserables. icon_sad.gif However, I can see why she decided not to. Les Miserables is a hard musical to put on at the high school level. There are about 33 songs and alot of musical dialogue as I call it. I'm stating the obvious, but that is fairly hard to do for a high school production. Now, a high school could do a revue, which is what my theatre company did. We sang 7 songs from the show and narrated the story. That is something I think a high school could get away with. icon_smile.gif Yeah, Les Mis is a great musical, isn't it? It's probably my favorite musical. icon_smile.gif Keyboardmaniac, if you read this, was the production of Les Miserables you were in for high school or was it put on by a theatre company in your city/town? Brad, I'm envious of the roles you have done. I would love to play Tevye and Harold. icon_smile.gif I would love to play the Beast too, but that would be my third choice for Beauty and the Beast behind Lumiere and Gaston.

Terrific community theater where I came from in Central Illinois--4 musicals each summer...but I had to move to Texas in the '80s.

Hard time thinking that far back..... but I do remember being onstage in a pair of leotards in "Once Upon A Mattress", I danced on a bar in "Applause", I danced on a piano in "Irene" (TAP no less!!), I was 24 pretending to be a 15-year-old 'thug' in "West Side Story" (A-Rab), and Nicely-Nicely in "Guys & Dolls".

Also scattered throughout the years were "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown", "Anything Goes", "Gypsy", "Mame" and (oh yes!)...my final appearance on stage was definitely memorable playing 'Clo-Clo' in "La Cage aux Folles" (and I NEVER want to put on another dress and/or squeeze my foot into a pair of high heels again as long as I live!!) icon_confused.gif

Brad, certain CDs are recorded with voices on either left or right, and the music on the opposite side. If you can, try playing just the right side then just the left side. If that doesn't work then you have to do as Noodlewoman said.
